Altenburg Arts and the Orchestra of the Music Makers (OMM) are proud to jointly present the long-awaited Singapore debut of Singapore-born prize-winning pianist Kate Liu.

Already lauded by The Washington Post as “a grand talent” at age 17, Liu made international headlines when she clinched the bronze medal at the age of 21 at the prestigious 17th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition held in Warsaw, Poland in 2015. She was also awarded the Best Mazurka Prize, and the audience favourite prize voted by the Polish public on the Polish National Radio.

For her Singapore debut recital, Liu will perform a richly dramatic programme, opening with Mozart’s whirlwind, startlingly tense A minor Sonata, K. 310. This is followed by music of poetry and ebullience by two of the greatest Romantic composers from their days of youth: Chopin’s Ballade No. 1 and Brahms’ Sonata No. 3, through which Liu will demonstrate her enormous brilliance, superbly sensitive lyrical gifts, composure even at full power, and all-round respectful music-making.

One night only, and limited seating.

Kate Liu is invited via a special collaboration between Altenburg Arts and OMM. In addition to this concert, she will be performing Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 20 in D minor, K. 466 with OMM on Saturday 16 October at the Esplanade Concert Hall.
